[Apostle Rudger Clawson Diary] A letter from Geo. D. Pyper, Sec. Sunday School Union, was read by the clerk. He reported that the Sunday School board was contemplating the propriety of publishing some cards with the Lord's Prayer printed on them. A question, however, had arisen as to whether Joseph Smith's version or the Bible version should be adopted. The difference in the two versions, he said, was this. In the Bible version it says, "Lead us not into temptation" [Matthew 6:13]; in Joseph's version, "Suffer us not to be led into temptation." After some discussion, it was decided to leave the matter open until the First Presidency should all be present with the Twelve to take action.

  1. The JST has never been and will never be a "translation." It is a wholly unauthorized (by God), corrupted, wrested, and mutilated version of the KJV. It should be properly called the "Joseph Smith Tampering" of the King James Bible.

However, Joseph Smith was indeed called/chosen by God to translate the gold plates via the Urim and Thummim into the Book of Mormon.
