On arising I found my foot so sore that I could not wear my shoe; it is a gathering on the heel of my left foot, and together with the gathering I have on my left hand, which is still very bad, makes me think of the afflictions of Job, and wonder if these things are on purpose to try me; if so I hope I will be able to endure them.

It was a judgment on him from the Lord for his whoredom, only the beginning sign of even worse things to come for him which were fulfilled on 19 July 1896 with his sudden death after attempting to take a 4th polygamous wife. See DMQ, MH:EP, Appendix 2, p.644.
ReplyDeleteAHC had taken his 1st polygamous wife in 1879 named Wilhelmina M., with whom he had 6 illegitimate children.
The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. (Psalm 19:9).
